We are pleased to announce our winners for this year’s 2013 Michelle Lunn Hope Memorial Scholarships: Each recipient will be rewarded $1000.

Jack Pfeiffer, is a 2013 graduate of Otsego High School who plans to attend Michigan State University in the fall to pursue a career as a physician which he chose so he could have a positive impact on the world and make a difference.  Jack was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 16.  Besides excelling as a student, even through this cancer, Jack has been a very active volunteer in his school and community and plans to continue that path once in college.

Kelly Dziekan, is a 2013 graduate from Brighton High School who plans to attend Adrian College pursuing a career in accounting.  After college she hopes to land a job working for a non-profit organization where she can give hope to children diagnosed with pediatric blood cancer.  At the age of 6 she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.  Kelly has been a very avid volunteer in her community, a Teen Ambassador through the cancer support community and has been actively involved in non-profit organizations.

Nathan Tubergen, is a 2013 Hamilton High School graduate who plans to attend Grand Valley University in the fall to pursue a career as an Electrical Engineer and hopes to apply his engineering knowledge towards a cure for cancer. He hopes his experiences and knowledge of  designs will someday develop machines needed in the medical field. Nathan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of 4 and received treatment until he was 8.

The Michelle Marie Lunn Hope Foundation (MLHOPE) was formed to foster awareness, educate, fund research and provide financial assistance to people affected with a blood cancer.  The Michelle Lunn Hope Foundation will award at least one $1000 scholarship based on the impact a blood cancer has had on your life and applicants financial need for the 2013-14 academic year.
